Established in 2003, Amethyst Horticulture is a family business, our wholesale nursery supplies seasonal bedding, trees and shrubs and also specialises in the supply, design and maintenance of Floral displays to local authorities throughout the country.
In addition to our high impact, instant floral displays, we have developed our own highly efficient self-watering containers, all with fully integral reservoirs. We are the only nursery producing bedding and baskets together with extensive shrub, perennial, and tree production, which allows us to offer a competitive ‘one stop’ service.
The company has a wealth of experience in the provision of large council bedding and basket contracts, in addition to these seasonal contracts, the nursery supplies a network of garden centers, supplying pack and pot bedding every week of the year; enabling us to accommodate late or last minute requirements.

Introduction to facilities
Amethyst Horticulture has two sites, our Lynsted Nursery occupies 13 acres, this is where the tree and shrub production are concentrated. The site has numerous protected growing areas along with extensive outside growing space. All growing areas are equipped with automatic watering and feeding machinery.
Our Nursery in Newington is a large 26 acre site where the seasonal bedding and basket production is concentrated.
The Newington Nursery has seven acres of purpose built automated glass houses, which has enabled the company to expand its bedding plant capacity.
The glass houses, have automated ventilation systems, irrigation and heating systems, which are programmed to ensure that optimum growing conditions are maintained.
Three automated ‘pricking out’ and planting machines, are used, with capacities exceeding 30,000 plants per hour during peak production periods.
We have a number of electric seed propagation units, and in one of the glass house under floor heating is used to nurture young seedlings.
An automatic trolley wash is used to ensure that all plants are watered adequately prior to dispatch. Deliveries are made by one of our own fleet of vehicles all equipped with tail lifts to make unloading quick, easy and safe.
The site has a large loading, dispatch and storage areas, allowing for dispatch to be completed in an orderly, and organized manner.
Located close to major trunk roads this site is now the main dispatch point for all products.
